SOLVED Drive unreachable in ZFS pool

Hi everyone,

I have a bit of an issue here but no sure how to start troubleshooting it.

I just built my freenas box. I have 7x2TB HDD in it. They are setup in a RaidZ2 configuration.

After writing a substantial amount of data of the last few days, I am seeing an error on the screen that reads as follows.

smartd[39962]: Device: /dev/ada2, 8 Currently Unreachable (pending) sectors
smartd[39962]: Device: /dev/ada2, 8 Currently Offline Uncorectable sectors

these two lines appear to come and go at different time intervals.

However, when I look at the array it says it is "Healthy" and "Smart" tests seem fine.

Any ideas?

Yeah.. run a long SMART test. More than likely it will fail. Both of those are signs of a disk in less than perfect health.

yep, sure enough it failed.

on a wuick alternate note, how do I mark topics as resolved? I for the life of me cannot figure it out. :)

Now that it has failed it does quality for an RMA if it is still in warranty. Just something to think about. :)

Yep, under warranty for one more year. It has served me well, so i can't complain. The RMA form is already filled out. :)
