iXsystems is committed to offering its customers the best storage solutions available on the market today. We have recently become aware of an issue with a component on the motherboard of the FreeNAS Mini and Mini XL that may lead to system failure. In most cases, the FreeNAS Mini will perform normally and may never experience a failure. If the affected component does fail, however, then the system will fail to boot. There is no risk of data loss if the affected component does fail.
Rest assured we’ve got you covered. We’ve been working with our vendor to identify a board-level fix that will provide customers with the stability they expect from their FreeNAS Mini. iXsystems is also pleased to announce that we are extending the warranty on the FreeNAS Mini motherboard. This warranty extension will apply to any second generation FreeNAS Mini or Mini XL manufactured before February 2017, giving a total of three (3) years of warranty coverage. Going forward, any FreeNAS Mini or FreeNAS Mini XL manufactured on or after February 2017 will not have this issue. For more information, please refer to the Knowledge Base article on the topic.
