Core to Scale install failed

@Kris Moore My current Core setup was a clean setup during version 11 and I have upgraded through the versions to 12.0-U8.1 and then jumped to 13.0-U2 on a SUPERMICRO SATADOM 16GB. Before making the migration install from Core to Scale I cleared out all the previous environments to make sure there would be enough room. After the install was complete the server never came back up so I looked at the IPMI and saw that GRUB was hung on a 'No such device' and 'Unknown filesystem' error.

I checked to make sure that the SATADOM was the first one in the boot order and I've also selected it manually during boot - all attempts end at the error above.

1. Can this be salvaged?
2. Is there some log on the DOM that I can retrieve for you before I nuke the drive and install fresh?

Update:
I was able to do a Scale install over the existing DOM and it successfully retained my Core config settings. I then submitted a bug report so that maybe the engineers can find out what happened.
