I think, now you're getting my point. My only concern was misinformation being spread in this thread. That's why I posted in the first place.
Like you, I have set up a couple of ZFS systems before, mostly on Solaris. Most of them consist of groups of raidz2 (6+2).
I agree with you that the recommended maximum number of drives in a group is 9 (total). That's why I was confused about jpaetzel post.
